Sauteed Mushrooms and Onions for Burgers Recipe

By: Paul & Sarah
This salty mushroom and onion topping is perfect on top of a tofu slider. It's a bit messy, but so worth the taste!
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

1 medium onion, sliced a quarter inch thick
1 teaspoon coconut oil
6 baby Bella mushrooms, sliced quarter inch thick
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons any flour (unbleached all-purpose flour works well)
3 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, or parsley)
These savory sauteed mushrooms and onions go well as a salty topping for recipes like our tofu sliders or on their own as a side dish!

Directions

1. Cook onions, mushrooms, salt, and herbs in the coconut oil in a small pan on medium heat.
2. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent. Do not bring to a boil.
3. Stir in the flour, while stirring constantly. Then, take the pan immediately off the heat.
4. Let cool a few minutes prior to serving.
