Toward the end of last year we attended the first annual Volusia VegFest in Central Florida! It’s a vegan festival hosted by a local group called Volusia Vegans.
We couldn’t pass up the chance to stuff our faces with all the delicious vegan food offered up by local vegan restaurants and food trucks. Cheesy vegan tater tots, fish and chips made from banana flowers, decadent cupcakes, and so much more!

Volusia VegFest – Daytona & Ormond Beach, Florida
Usually we have to travel to find a VegFest in Florida close to us but now we have one in our own backyard! In 2019 the Volusia VegFest became a popular event with many vendors completely selling out of all of their food.
With a good mix of vendor tables and food trucks, the Volusia VegFest was a fun event to take part for vegans and non-vegans alike. It was also in the same industrial complex at the Ormond Brewing Company so you could grab a craft beer while enjoying your food.
We’ve attended the Central Florida VegFest and the Tampa VegFest and while not as big as those huge events, the Volusia VegFest was a huge success! It’s likely that it will keep growing year after year.
The Tasty Vegan Food
Omg, the delicious food. It’s incredible what creative foodies can come up with. For example, one of the vegan food trucks that attended called Oh My Cod Vegan Seafood Company, makes an unbelievable “Fish & Chips” made from the banana flower! It’s battered, deep fried, and shockingly has the consistency of fish. We also tried the crab cakes which were very good.
Another favorite was Knocker Tots, a Central Florida favorite that serves up “Sloppy Knockers” which is a basket of tater tots smothered in vegan mac ‘n cheese, bean chili, and sour cream. Just writing that last line made my mouth water!
And what’s life without dessert? If you’re in the Ormond and Daytona Beach area, you seriously have to try some of the desserts at Wild Rabbit Bistro. Heavenly only begins to describe their cupcakes. Don’t even get us started or this will turn into a post only about vegan cake frosting! We tried some of their carrot cake at another event and seriously consider it the best we’ve ever had other than Sarah’s vegan carrot cake! 🧁🥕
After all that food we were in desperate need of some drinks! Rounding out the fun experience has to be the craft brewery backdrop of Ormond Brewing Company. This local brewery has a large list of master crafted beers and other tasty creations that you can enjoy at the bar or in their backyard area. We love getting the “flights” of beer to be able to taste a bunch of different kinds that they make. It’s an awesome place for a fun date night out or with a group of friends.
This is by far not a total listing of all the food vendors that attended but we only had so much room in our stomachs!
Volusia Vegans
A lot of thanks goes to Volusia Vegans for hosting our first local VegFest in the Daytona Beach and Ormond area! This local vegan group keeps track of all the delicious vegan restaurants in Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, and the surrounding area of Volusia County, Florida.
It’s great to have people that want to make our community better by encouraging more plant-based food options. For more information on Volusia Vegans and upcoming Volusia VegFests, check out their website.
Try Out Some Good Plant-Based Food!
The delicious food you can have on a plant-based diet is literally endless. Vegan mac ‘n cheese, fish and chips, and decadent cake are only the tip of a giant iceberg. There’s so much more including a lot of tasty vegan food you can make yourself at home, but it’s a lot of fun being able to try so much delicious food all at once at a Veg Fest.
