New Smyrna Beach is a cute little beach town with lots of charm and a local secret. Towards the end of every month the city hosts the New Smyrna Wine Walk on Flagler Avenue!
This is where local restaurants and bars team up and offer many types of wine and other local specialties in an event that has become the monthly party to attend.

New Smyrna Wine Walk
So how does the NSB wine walk work?
Every fourth Saturday of the month from 1PM to 7PM you can walk down Flagler Avenue and sample wines at several local restaurants and bars. For $30 you get a souvenir wine glass and twenty tickets to use at any stops along the walk.
If you already have a Wine Walk glass from a previous event, it’s $5 off, and if you want to share tickets an extra glass is only $5. You just have to visit one of the Wine Walk tents on either end of the walk.
You also get a map showing what kind of wine you can expect at each location. It’s like going on an adult scavenger hunt to find your favorite vino!
A nice side note is that the New Smyrna Wine Walk and also the art walk happen at the same time! So while you’re sipping on wines from around the world, you can admire local art. The combination makes for a classy afternoon date but we’ve always enjoyed the wine walk the most with a group of friends.
Is it legal to drink on the street in New Smyrna?
No, walking around with an open container is not legal. You’re supposed to finish your drink before you leave one of the stops, but it’s mostly overlooked. We always try to finish our drinks before we leave but it’s never been a big deal.
Where do you park for the New Smyrna Wine Walk?
If you can find a spot right on Flagler Avenue grab it! They’re taken quickly but since the event is from 1-7PM, people do leave. You’re most likely to find a spot in one of the many free public parking lots that are just off of Flagler Ave. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find one right away. Be patient and one will open up.
We love the Flagler Avenue Wine Walk!
It’s pretty rare to find a beach town with as much charm as New Smyrna Beach. During the summer it’s pretty common to see hard-body surfers in bikinis carrying surfboards from the beach to their Jeeps and people riding bicycles up and down the avenue and boardwalk.
Flagler Avenue is a great place to grab a balcony seat in one of the many restaurants to people watch. Other fun oddities are lively chickens crowing and running around doing their thing similar to what you’d see in Key West. But you don’t have to go far south to get the same island experience. Just come to New Smyrna!
Drink some wine, check out some art, and grab a bite to eat in this unique little hidden gem. Scavenger hunt tip: find the place with “the bend-over pour.”
